Hi! I'm Ty, the face behind Bright Side Film Lab.
Photography has been a constant in my life for as long as I can remember. What started in the high school darkroom as a way to get out of other less desirable topics quickly developed into a genuine compulsion to make images—to document people, places, moments, and everything wild in between. Film has always been at the centre of that journey.
I started Bright Side Film Lab because I wanted to create the kind of lab I would want to use myself: one that treats every roll with care, values consistency, and understands that every frame matters to the person who made it. I do my best to interpret each photo with the same love that made you bring the viewfinder to your eye.
Every roll that comes through the lab is developed and scanned by me using professional Fujifilm equipment. Whether it's your first roll of film or your hundredth, I approach each one with a deep attention to detail and admiration for every frame. I am always an email away to discuss what went right, what went wrong, and any tips or tricks that have helped me along my journey.
Bright Side Film Lab is proudly independent, family-owned, and based in South Australia—built for photographers who simply love and are compelled to shoot. My goal is straightforward: to produce beautiful, crisp scans and make the process as easy and enjoyable as possible, so you can spend less time thinking about your negatives and more time making photos.
Every roll tells a different story. Every roll is scanned using a Fujifilm Frontier SP-3000, a professional scanner trusted by commercial laboratories around the world. Its ability to produce natural colours, smooth tonal transitions and excellent detail allows us to deliver scans that remain faithful to the character of your negatives.
Bright Side Film Lab proudly operates as an Australia-wide mail-in service. Whether you're in Adelaide, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth or a regional town, you can access the same professional film processing and skip the travel and parking by simply posting your film to us.
